Janata Sahakari Bank was established in October 1949 by a group of persons committed to social cause, with a view to providing financial needs of weak and lower class people. The bank grew from strength to strength and got excellent support from its dedicated employees, who worked in adverse conditions. The Janata Sahakari Bank has many firsts to its credit. It is a pioneer in opening of branches in urban co-operative banking, merger of weak banks with a strong bank, bankers for Pune Stock exchange and opening of depository of NSDL are but a few. Upliftment of economic standard through social interaction is the main objective of co-operative banking. The mission statement of Janata Sahakari Bank is to be a 'big bank of small people' while achieving this, the bank is marching ahead with latest technology and customer service of high quality.

The financial needs of the society undergo a change in the changing economic scenario. The Janata Bank wishes  to be known as last stop for the financial needs of people at large. Information Technology has become all pervasive and the banking industry is no exception to this.
